There seems to be a few series coming to the end of their life on DVD. Think it's been discussed vaguely at some point, but thought it might be an idea to compile a proper list of DVDs which aren't officially available any more. Hopefully it can be used so we know what ones we can grab quickly before they disappear forever. Did a quick search and here's what I've come up with so far:

Akira Limited Edition
Appleseed (1988 one, old 15-cert edition)
Black Magic M-66 / Plastic Little
Blue Gender 1-8
Boogiepop Phantom (anime only)
Bubblegum Crisis 1-3
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 1-6
Burn Up W
Castle in the Sky (Buena Vista version)
Digital Devil / The Cockpit
Dirty Pair Flash
Escaflowne (singles)
Fist of the North Star Box Set
Gasaraki
Generator Gawl (singles and box)
Gunbuster
Gundam Wing (singles)
Gunslinger Girl 1-3
Gunsmith Cats
Kiddy Grade 1-8
Kiki's Delivery Serivce (Beuna Vista version)
Lupin III - The Secret of Twilight Gemini
Lupin III - The Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure
Macross II
Martian Successor Nadesico (singles and box set)
Neon Genesis Evangelion TV (non-Platinum version)
Ninja Scroll (original edited edition)
Queen Emeraldas
Rei Rei / Gigolo
Riding Bean
Sailor moon 1-14 (is that the right number of volumes?)
Sakura Diaries
Sol Bianca
Sonic The Hedgehog
Spriggan (both regular and Special Edition)
Starblazers (singles and box)
Tekken
Urusei Yatsura (Movies and OVA Box)
Vampire Princess Miyu TV
Violence Jack
Yu Yu Hakusho 1+2 (dub-only versions)

I'm sure there are a few I've forgotten, and maybe a couple which are still around. There are also a fair few series I skipped as they're on their way out, but haven't yet been officially deleted (like Boogiepop Phantom and Vampire Princess Miyu). It's a list which will grow with time. Are there any more?

BGC Tokyo 2040 - singles and box
Gasaraki - singles
Boogiepop phantom - singles and box
Bubblegum Crisis (orignal OVA series) Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad - to think the new generation of fans will never see this on DVD in the UK.

That's why I imported the US box set (the 2004 one)...but I only imported it because had more extras than the UK release

I think Riding Bean (classic!) and Blue Gender are on their way out as well. I'll update the list in a day or so and see what we've got.

Sailor Moon
Mazinger Z
Vampire Miyu (I think Tony mentioned that the masters were destroyed in the fire and decided that it wasn't economically viable to get new masters printed.)

That one's not ringing any bells as ever having come out in the UK. Do you mean Mazinkaiser?

Yep. That's what I meant and that is out of print as far as I am aware. Too many mecha shows all blurring into one Wink.

Wow, thanks a lot, I'll redo the list - I think it's all ok. (I'll leave Dai-Guard and Samurai X off for now as they're still officially around) The updated list look like this now (I'll change the first post as well so it's at the top):

Black Magic M-66 / Plastic Little
Boogiepop Phantom (anime only)
Bubblegum Crisis 1-3
Castle in the Sky (Buena Vista version)
Digital Devil / The Cockpit
Dirty Pair Flash
Escaflowne (singles)
Fist of the North Star Box Set
Gasaraki
Generator Gawl (singles and box)
Gunbuster
Gundam Wing (singles)
Gunsmith Cats
Kiki's Delivery Serivce (Beuna Vista version)
Macross II
Martian Successor Nadesico (singles and box set)
Neon Genesis Evangelion TV (non-Platinum version)
Ninja Scroll (original edited edition)
Queen Emeraldas
Rei Rei / Gigolo
Riding Bean
Sailor moon 1-14 (is that the right number of volumes?)
Sakura Diaries

Akira Limited Edition - got it
Appleseed (1988 one, old 15-cert edition) - got it
Black Magic M-66 / Plastic Little - DamN!!! I'm still after M-66
Boogiepop Phantom (anime only) - looked a bit morose
Bubblegum Crisis 1-3 - Rosebud!!!!!!
Castle in the Sky (Buena Vista version) - Isnt there a Optimum version?
Digital Devil / The Cockpit - No great tragedy
Dirty Pair Flash - Missed that one
Escaflowne (singles) - only seen bits of that
Fist of the North Star Box Set - Damn!!!!!
Gasaraki - Did anyone else think starship troopers?
Generator Gawl (singles and box)
Gunbuster - Kiseki's half arsed effort with the DVD kinda killed that one for me
Gundam Wing (singles) - once and never again
Gunsmith Cats - NTSC in a country that uses PAL, well done ADV! Wink
Kiki's Delivery Serivce (Beuna Vista version) - again isn there an optimum version?
Macross II - Kiseki, Grrrrr!
Martian Successor Nadesico (singles and box set) - wasn't this insanely popular? or so i was lead to believe
Neon Genesis Evangelion TV (non-Platinum version) - give em time there'll be more re hashes
Ninja Scroll (original edited edition)- New version out so not big deal there
Queen Emeraldas - missed that one
Rei Rei / Gigolo - no great tragedy there.
Riding Bean - would've been nice if they'd included a Jap audio and not just digitised the old VHS dub master they had lying around
Sailor moon 1-14 (is that the right number of volumes?) shoulda done a box set, 14 volumes is just extracting the urine!
Sakura Diaries - havent seen that
Sol Bianca - darn Kiseki!!!
Sonic The Hedgehog
Spriggan (both regular and Special Edition) - DAMNIT!!! I was finally going to get that!!!
Starblazers (singles and box)
Tekken - Again, was finally going to get that!
Urusei Yatsura (Movies and OVA Box) - bummer!!!
Vampire Princess Miyu TV - was it the OVA they showed on sci fi a few years ago?
Violence Jack - wont be missing that one

Each disc had 6 episodes on, and they where pretty cheap.

For the Ghibli films the Optimum versions are still around and are better quality than the old versions, but think it's appropriate to put them on there. Spriggan and Tekken are currently being flogged off on the cheap on ADV UK's site if you need them (I've used them and they're easy to deal with). The Miyu OVA on Sci-fi was Manga's old stuff and nothing to do with MVM's series. Sakura Diaries isn't that good unless you can get it cheap (which it is as it's also on ADV's site).

One's from that list I'd like to get:
Boogiepop Phantom (anime only) - When I've got the money I'll get it if I'm in the mood.
Digital Devil / The Cockpit - The Cockpit's fantasic so I'd like this on DVD (Digital Devil's awful though)
Starblazers - Kind of into my Leiji Matsumoto lately so I'd like the chance to get this cheap.
Urusei Yatsura (Movies and OVA Box) - I'll be keeping my eyes on MVM's bargain bins! Twisted Evil

Think it's time to update this list a bit as a load of stuff dies at the end of the month.

Gunslinger Girl 1-3
Blue Gender 1-8
Kiddy Grade 1-8

... is that all? I coulda sworn there'd be more from the MVM/Funi split!

I guess Yu Yu Hakusho can be added to that, as well as Lupin III, and we still don't know what happens to FMA 1-8
