On ebay every now and then I see Manga's DVDs in different packaging labelled as 'Manga Force' and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them? They look like this:

They seem to be part of a series. I'm pretty sure I've seen them on ebay accompanied with a magazine as though it were a proper mag/DVD series.

They look legit to me, but have never seen one in any newsagents or other shop anywhere. Are they super-obscure, or from other UK territories? (eg. Jersey of Republic of Ireland)

Anyone know anything?

(I'm loving the artwork for Blood! Cool )

my first feelings were that it was a "manga farce", but looking again I'm not sure.

It was a magazine that was released a few months ago, meant to be released monthly with many of the 'big boys' of anime from both ADV and Manga. Unfortunatly it looks like it died a death. I remember looking for it and not being able to find any of them in Belfast so no wonder it was rarely bought, its not like Belfast is a small place! Mad

Coo, nice to get some confirmation on it, thanks! Smile

(Maybe it was an Ireland exclusive after all...?)

If I ever see one, I'll certainly be tempted to investigate further.

So they're trying these again then, I can't find anything on the websites to do with actual dates of release.

Wow, never thought these would see the light of day! Excellent find there! I'm tempted, but £8.99 an issue seems expensive as I've already got most of this stuff.

There's little indication as to the magazine contents as they'd have to be pretty thick or ultra-high quality to entice me. Wonder how many issues they'll do as well...? Seems like 10 at the moment but it doesn't seem definite.

If they dragged out some old dub-only VHS titles which never got a big release I'd be there in a second!

Edit: Gah! There'll be 50 issues! Isn't that about £450? (didn't even realise that Manga even had 50 DVDs in circulation...)

The good news: This will increase anime awareness
The bad news: A whole new generation of fans will grow up calling it "manga"

I think that since is manga ents mag the can call it what they like, but I do agree that it will miss lead a lot of people to use the word manga to mean anime.

Then it will be up to us, to slap them in the back of the head with a rolled up newspaper and enlighten their ignorance! Very Happy
