Went to check their pre-order section for their anime DVDs, and noticed that all the prices have been hiked up by a couple of pounds. Anyone think it's a sign that play.com is struggling a little?

*wacthes the pre-ordering anime fans flee to hmv.co.uk*

I still preorder anime from anime-on-line. There's nothing like supporting the industry directly.

Ok so about half a week after putting all of the prices up, they all go back down to what they were before?

... logic? Confused

Okay - some prices are up, however preorders arent.

Seems like they might be switching to how amazon handles things, (cept not raising the prices to RRP, just a bit higher)

It's a strange move certainly.

I noticed Madlax has gone from £14.99 to £16.99 while HMV still has 1-5 at £11.99 and, oddly given they're the 3 episode disks, 6&7 at £17.99.

Maybe they are feeling the pressure as Ian says but it's a stupid move for anime at least as most anime buyers are fans and more likely to search out the best deal.

The downside, other than the price increases themselves, could be if Play see a drop in demand for anime titles they reduce the number they sell which has to be bad for all of us.
