Utawarerumono vol 5

Big twist at the end -
Quote:
Hakuoro turns into a giant beast after nearly dying and has a good old fight. Meanwhile in a flashback the skeleton of the same beast was found at some point by modern day (?!?!) scientists whom 2 of had a fight, with one of them (same voice as Hakuoro!?!) was shot dead, his blood seeping into the skeleton

Yeah, its just a few minutes flashback(?!?) but it changes everything.... cant wait for the end!!

Berserk Volume 6.

Even though I knew I'd be getting a non-ending, it was still disappointing. I'm not one for the supernatural I guess, and it didn't live up to the rest of the series.

Watched Gamera - Revenge of Iris, the ending was well, abrupt. not as good as attack of legion.

Watched a few episodes last night (for once!). 3x3 Eyes eos 1+2. I've gotta say the image quality is baaad which didn't make me that happy. Also the Geneon have a different one to the one that came out in the UK so any potential for nostalgia trips went straight out the window. It might be more faithful to the Japanese, but the dialogue is pretty bland and drags the show right down. Watched with subs instead.

Also watched the first 2 eps of Negima. It's harmless enough and has a couple of funny bits so think I'll be enjoying this one! Smile Took a while to get used to Negi's Enlglish voice but at least didn't feel the need to revert to subs this time.

Watched Shana Volume 2 last night. It's pretty much the same as the first volume, but I liked it more. I'm enjoying the characters more, and the story is developing well. I'm also impressed as to how much narrative they manage to cram into each episode, and keep developing the characters at the same time. It's definitely value for money in that respect.

Watched Appleseed: Ex Machina last night, it was suprisingly good, I think perhaps better than the first as it was on a more character driven level; that and the CG blended a lot better this time round.

The only annoyance is that Warner haven't included the Japanese audio on the R2:UK release, and for japanese language fans importing the R1 release wont be much better seen as it's dubtitled. meh. The English dub is good though Warner farmed it out to ADV so they knew what they were doing, it's mixed really well to so people aren't instantly recognisable as ADV talent.

The anime splurge that began with the ADV sell off has come to an end... All that mountain of series volumes, 2 episodes a night has taken me to June to get through.

The last series I watched was Last Exile, which I got from dvd.co.uk. It's an awesome looking series, very entertaining, but a couple of fundamental flaws stop it from reaching classic status.

Oops, my mistake. Still have Tekkonkinkreet and Paprika on my to watch pile.

What, really? Also I didn't know the US DVD was dubtitled, the US blu-ray doesn't seem it.

Id be surprised if the UK blu-ray is dub only actually, since WB usually just keep the content the same on HD releases, since theres no need for a PAL conversion (even down to FBI warnings, lol!)

Was I the only one who got Appleseed with a comic that had its pages wrong? I've got about 8 pages which are doubled and they take the place of pages which should be there! Sad

Not a major problem as I've got the relevent copy of Super Manga Blast with me, but still...

Mine appears to be fine, bit of a bummer that, It would have been a deciding factor to take the bloody thing back to HMV, the other annoying thing is the comic book doesn't fit inside the steel tin, nor is there any reverse cover artwork or insert.

Just got the US release of 5cm per second and that's a barebones release too, no reverse cover art or insert.

After a looooong break, I finally sat down and saw Death Note Vol. 1. Took me a few episodes to really get into it, but by the end of the first disk I was gripped (and by the end of the second incredibly creeped out ^^;;; )
