Be a little bit more helpful Zo, yes the link is a 12 and not a 15. _________________ ...

Huh. Funny how the Brits and Aussies give them a different reason for the rating. For us it's cos of infrequent moderate sex references, and in Australia (where it's rated PG, oddly enough) it's cos of mild threatening scenes. |

Guess the violence this time round is MVM's doing (again). Probably that Revolutionary Girl Utena movie trailer. Why the hell do MVM try to bump up the age rating? ;.; |

A few things - is this intentional on MVM's part (perhaps they simply include trailers for shows that may just appeal to the same audience as the title or what they have on offer). Secondly is it a certainty that this is what pushed the age rating up?
As for why someone may wish to do that, simple marketing factor is that higher age ratings sell more copies. Not a great many people under the age of 16 buy anime DVDs and a large proportion of people that do buy them avoid the lower age ratings (it certainly used to be the case and I do not think the demographic has changed a great deal at present.) For me it is a complete non-issue whether it is intentional, justified on the main features merits or otherwise. The only thing that ultimately bothers me are seemingly unnecessary cuts but they are thankfully rare. |

I'm sure of it. It got an M rating in Australia (similar to a 12/low-end 15) for just "Moderate themes" (which probably comes under the "sex and incest references"). |
