And I celebrate it with finally a watch of Vexille...

Okay, New drinking game, everytime you spot a rip-off, take a sip. At the end of the movie, go to A&E to have your stomach pumped.

Damned pretty though.

Worked my way through Buso Renkin: Part 1, which was daft, but fun, and occasionally creepy (eww creepy, not spooky creepy)

Shonen nonsense with its tongue in cheek. Well worth a giggle.

Brave Story last night, which was great. An entertaining RPG fantasy fairy tale type story with just a touch of the Ghiblis.

Have barely seen anything lately...

Finished off Rumbling Hearts 3 finally (ended well I thought...and a very pretty series if torturous to watch at times)

as well as Madlax Vol 1. I've now seen Madlax 1 and Noir 1 and so far I prefer Madlax. Less faffing about it seems.

Saw the first episode of Shakugan no Shana as well after I bought it today at Amecon...looks good so far! Very Happy

Nice to be back in the anime watching world that's for sure!

Watched The Wallflower voluem 1 last night, interesting really, quite funny and very off-cilter liek most japanese comedies, but I have to wonder if it can last for a full 26 episodes, it would have almsot suited a 6 part ova.

Think My fair Lady meets Excel Saga.

After a bit of a slow couple of months anime-wise, I've just finished marathoning all of Chrono Crusade. It didn't end up being one of my absolute favourites, but the finale (and its build-up) was really powerful!

Also finally got around to watching Azumanga Daioh Vol. 1 - possibly one of the most relaxing shows I've seen... Cool

Polished off Gravitation with volume 3 last night. Mild sexual threat all present and correct. Not my cup of cheese, but enjoyable enough in a pathetic daft way.

Watched my first two episodes of Haruhi last night. Got a head rush at how much I enjoyed it. Even episode 00, which I thought was hilarious. Incidentally, does the UK R2 version have the chunky playtime subtitles?

EDIT: Just saw Ian's screencaps on the pixellation question (didn't notice that on the R1) and the subs are the same.

Burst Angel Infinity. A fun waste of 25 mins, nothing more, nothing less.

(do wonder where its placed in relation to the series. Before the flash back ep or after? The quick run through during the credits makes me think BOTH stranegly - although im not sure if "megs boobs are bigger in the flashback ep" should count as a reason since Gonzo loved changing the size of the female characters busts on an episode by episode basis)

From the way I see it the events occur after since the kids are being looked after by that policeman.

Watched Origin: Spirits of the Past yesterday, must admit it was better this second time around, animation is lovely as is to be expected witha movie offering from gonzo and the story while improable near the end doesn't go quite as overboard as i remember it doing first tiem round.

It's popcorn version of Nausicaa.

Watched some more Haruhi last night (noticed the artefacting in the opening sequence now that I was looking for it)

Liked it so much, I went looking for the LEs. Boy did I miss the boat on that one. Volume 1 is already gone from Play and AOL, and it probably isn't long for other retailers either. Not that I could afford them right now if I wanted. It's definitely an impulse buy thing, but until I knew what the show was like, I wouldn't have had the impulse. Too late and too broke now. Sad

On the bright side, I'm happy enough with the vanilla discs, and so what if I have to get up all the time to swap the discs over (broadcast order is really good!) Very Happy

But, when they say limited, they bloody well mean it, unlike my X-Files LE season sets (identical to m-lock except they have a number on the side) I have #22427 of Season 1...

Anime is limited by the definition of the industry. I'll hazard that the LE of Haruhi was only printed in small numbers, probably 500, maybe 1000 if they were feeling frisky.

Andrew@beez already stated that the initial (and potentially only) run was for 500 units. They retained a few of those for sale at the first Expo and AmeCon so the numbers out at retail are slightly less than that 500.
