Finished disc 2 of volume 2 - Very Happy

Awesome stuff. Lovin' the time skip, heck even the compilation episode worked.

Interestingly, you'd expect a new theme tune after the time skip, but instead it just uses a different verse of the same song (with another new animation sequence of course)

Finished the second disk of Gurren Lagann part 2. Liking the time skip, not so keen on the compilation episode though.

(Online)
Valkyria Chronicles episodes 22, 23, 24 and 25.

Watched Part 2 of Ghost Hunt, which I really enjoyed, although I think that the manga is scarier.

Also finished off the last two discs of Samurai Champloo - I am so grateful to the cosplayer at Amecon last year who recommended I watch this (he was dressed as Mugen) as I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Negima!? Part 2 - Not as good as the first part, but still enjoyable.

Also watched the first disk of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

What did you think of Neon Genesis Evangelion? It seems to provoke rather extreme reactions in everybody that watches it.

I rate it as good stuff. It broke a lot of new ground at the time but seems to be seen as overrated by a crowd who bought into the hype and expecting a low-budget 15-year-old-show to measure up to everything else made since. Much the same as with people who say they don't 'get' Akira.[/cynic]

It's basically a robot show where all the characters analyse themselves and each other a lot, mixed in with biblically-referenced giant robot-styled battles. Can't say much more as it's very spoilerific. Wink

A lot of Japanese fans didn't like the ending of the TV series, which concludes the story thematically, but not so much the narrative. The backlash from the fans was responded by the director who made the final theatrical film markedly more brutal mainly to spite them. It was a bit of a controversial area. I personally prefer the original ending, but the film is worth checking out afterwards to see how things end up. It's experimental and risk-taking stuff and doesn't offer everything to you on a plate. Whether it's crediting the audience with a scrap of intelligence or taking them for a ride is open to interpretation. Yeah, it's one of those kinds of films, lol.

The fact the franchise is being whored out these days doesn't stop the original roots from being good. Very Happy

Its overrated. But damn, do i like Asuka Smile

Even put her on a "cartoon characters you would "do"" list on another forum... (other characters? Well Misa Amane from Death Note, Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess, Irene "Rally" Vincent from Gumsmith Cats, Greenback Jane from Black Lagoon, Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club, Kyoya Ootori from Ouran High School Host Club, Rose Anderson from Solty Rei, Haruhi Suzumiya and Yoko Littner from Gurren Lagann.

Yes i am sad enough to have a list of anime characters i would sleep with it....!)

From what I have seen so far I am enjoying it, but I will agree with what others have said in that I also think it is overrated.

Where do the movies e.g. Death and Rebirth, End of Evangelion fit in to the story?

EoE is an alt ending/real world ending to the series, it takes place of ep 25/26. Best to watch both endings!

Death and Rebirth... is crap. Its just 45 minutes of stuff from the series, and the first half of EoE

Finished off Negima!?

Overall? Much, much better than the original adaptation. As i said with part 1, going in its own direction paid off.

Only thing.. it ended with ep 24. It was like a case of "ahh, we still have 2 eps to go!" So we have some finishing off of the story in ep 25, then a slightly lighter episode involving the possible where abouts of Negi's father

Also Sparking 1000% is an awesomely catchy theme tune, and i liked how for one episode they played nearly the whole song instead of sticking some filler into the episode it self.

I agree. Negima!? is much better than Negima! as a standalone story. That said, one is a very poor adaption of a story, and the other is a pretty decent 'alternate universe' story. Neither do the original material justice.

I really hope they licence the 'Ala Alba' and 'Another World' OVAs, they are really what the first series of Negima SHOULD have been like. Animation quality to match the second season, Asuna's heterochromia has returned, and the story is as close to the manga as you could get without just recording somebody flipping through the pages.

Wacthed the first episode of Final Fantasy Unlimited yesterday... man people weren't joking when they said it as bad. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood or something.

Finished Zeta Gundam TV series finally.

I really enjoyed despite the fact the character development was all over the place for most of the characters.
