So what titles will be vanishing from the shop shelves?

As far as I can tell it's

Blue Gender
Fruits Basket
Kiddy Grade
Gunslinger Girl
Lupin the 3rd
Yu Yu Hakusho
Full Metal Alchemist

and Vampire Princess Miyu of course.

Damned shame about Gunslinger Girl. It was barely around long enough to make an impression.

Edit to add.

They killed Full Metal Alchemist! The bastards! Evil or Very Mad

The only real losses there as far as MVM are concerned are Fullmetal Alchemist and Gunslinger Girl as two recent releases, with FMA still going strong. Yu Yu Hakusho was already being written off as a loss and the rest have pretty much had their shelf life already.

Bubblegum Crisis, which is again unrelated, is also out of print if I remember correctly.

I seriously want MVM to do a bargain basement sale on all these titles.

*needs Gunslinger Girl and Kiddy Grade*

Lost a bit bit of respect for Funimation though...

Who?

Not you, don't worry... Wink

There's a guy out there on a few UK forums who seems to hate MVM with a passion for reasons unknown. It's not really my place to give a name though, and I don't like singling people out either so I won't.

The new distributor has been announced and it's

Revelation Films http://www.revfilms.co.uk/index.cfm

according to this report...

http://www.uk-anime.net/news.asp?IntID=331

Colour me underwhelmed Confused

Seems like a step down to me.

Yes. From a distributor who has succeeded in releasing anime to one who failed miserably. But, hey, Navarre like them and that is what counts in the end...

If they start releasing FMA from the first disc then I will boycott that release in favour of a US import. I simply will not wait up to two years (near enough at one volume every other month) to complete that series having collected it for over a year already.

Still, at least we have some information and there is hope on the horizon. Just hope it isn't a false dawn.

Odd choice, Funimation probably wanted more of a say of how their anime was handled in this country.

This is all specaltion, but perhaps MVM's principle of only releasing a maximum of 6 DVDs per month had an effect on their own titles and they wanted more of their own stuff coming out?

If all they do is rip their R1 DVD masters like ADV do with their US counterpart, then I'm sure they'll do fine.

HHmmmm, *pulls face....*

Kiseki's old label... one thig of note on their site is that under "Japanese animation" Gunbuster is no longer listed so looks like the license is up for grabs, com'on BEEZ.

I've only seen one Revelation disc to date and that was

Oktober.

It's an old ITV tech thriller.

The contents aside, the aspect ratio was wrong, and the presentation was lacking. (The copyright warning warned that you shouldn't copy this 'videocassette') Shocked

I hope that all Revelation do is distribute, and that Funimation take care of the authoring.

Apparently (and thankfully) they will begin their distribution with volume 9 of Fullmetal Alchemist, a Fruits Basket boxed set and Spiral volume 1 according to this post on Anime UK News. That at least gives it some hope.

Well at least it means FMA wont restart from the beginning....

And a FruBa boxset is always good news.
