With the Ghibli catalogue, and the might of Canal+ behind them, only Optimum can match Manga for clout, and maybe exceed them. It'll be interesting to see if they branch out beyond Ghibli.

So far the only non-Ghibli related titles that Optimum have done are Vampire Hunter d: Bloodlust and Appleseed. (I think that's all anyway)

I'd love for them to go for more stuff. Sherlock Hound, Panda Go Panda and Future Boy Conan would be good for expanding their Ghibli zone. As for the stronger stuff, I want them to get the Highlander anime! Twisted Evil

They also did one of the Lupin III movies (the one by Miyazaki) and The Little Norse Prince (very Ghibliesque in a way and by Isao Takahata who has directed other Ghibli movies but not by Ghibli in itself). Still, they have only dabbled in movies to date and are unlikely to go beyond that.

Barefoot Gen as well now I think about it. It's cool that they try out some different stuff, but I think that they're probably all 'animed-out' for the time being as they've released quite a lot of stuff for a non-anime company...

Prove me wrong guys!

Just spotted this on ebay:

This looks odd to me. The design's different (has the old BBFC logos too) and Manga don't even have Dominion Tank Police any more. Maybe this was from the original run which was done before the current one?

(Sorry, I love seeing stuff like this and wondering how people get hold of such stuff Very Happy )
