Give a number as to how many UK anime fans you think there are. You don't have to base it on anything, the fun is all in the guesswork (feel free to justify and explain it if you want to though).
I'm guessing maybe 150,000. Maybe half of these guys only ever download, about 50,000 buying maybe one DVD a month with the other 20,000 being a bit more regular with their spending. 5,000 of us are more hardcore which includes. (2,000 of whom only ever buy R1 DVDs.)
Tell us how you reckon things even out. |

To ballpark it, somewhere between 8 and 80000
Seriously // I can't think of figures but from what I've been able to gather from chatting with those in the know is that percentage wise the market is about the same size as the american one. But naturally because we have a smaller populous it means less numbers. _________________ ...

Yeah I think I overestimated a touch, half all my stats! 8 people would be cool, that would mean all the anime fans of the UK would be on this forum!
The ratio-based argument makes sense, which kind of implies that anime in the US is just as small over there as it is here. (there's just more people in their country innit) |

I'd have to disagree given how many titles just don't seem to sell well over here, there's no Shojo market, for example. _________________ ...

Tokyopop seems to have the Shojo market cornered at the moment.
Maybe a bundle of volume 1 of both the DVD and manga (like with Battle Vixens and the upcoming Elemental Gelade) would help things out if it were the right title? (maybe Peach Girl or something?) |
