I'm thinking or pre-ordering the new .hack//Roots box from somewhere. I'm worried that it'll be easily damaged as it's a half-empty box and wouldn't stand up to much abuse.
What online retailer do you recommend for delicate goods. (UK-specific companies for me, but mention anyone else worthy as others may be interested)

| I guess. It's more that MVM seem to use jiffy bags which doesn't seem too sturdy compared to play and amazon boxes (for larger items anyway). Just wondering who people thought has the most reliable packing... |

If the box set is big enough play will use a box. Id assume MVM would be the same.
Last box set i ordered from play was Queer as Folk Definite Collector's Edition, which came in a jiffy bag BUT it was only 2 dvd cases in size. Id say if its bigger than that then they would use a box.
Id go for amazon though - more likely to use a box, and its cheaper on there for some reason (with the free delivery) _________________ Avatar: Misa Amane from Death Note

Ill probably preorder it from them too, methinks
Oh BTW if you want to see the sort of damage you get when a jiffy bag is used for a box set -
It might be hard to see, but its a bit crushed up on one of the corners. Theres a similar bit on the bottom. Its very minor, but id be pissed if it happened to an artbox, not a cheap TV series box set. _________________ Avatar: Misa Amane from Death Note

Yeah, jiffy bags for boxes = bad. My .hack set was from MVM and got similar damage as it was in a jiffy bag. Amazon boxes ftw! |

play.com do use boxes for larger items, as does MVM - this from personal experience. I can't say either is worse, it really depends on how good Royal Mail isn't. _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

Well it does seem a bit random!
For example - Life on Mars series 1 came in a jiffy bag, yet The Prisoner came in a box.
The Prisoner was only a slight bit bigger and could of still fit in a jiffy bag.
Wonder how they decide?
Oh and a box doesnt mean it wont get crushed *looks at his Kaleido Star thinpak boxset* *sighs*
In fact that got crushed worse than anything from play.com, even jiffy bagged stuff.
Oh and Toraman, got a pic of the .hack//sign set? I havent seen any pics of it really. _________________ Avatar: Misa Amane from Death Note

I think a lot of it's based on the value of the item. More expensive things get better treatment, or that could just be my misconception...

No problem. It's very similar to Manga's treatment of Tokyo Underground except it folds out from the middle and not at one end.

Hmmm...my other half got this box too and it got a little crushed. Maybe it's just the quality of the cardboard. All works fine those...
I also think I own that exact same duvet cover Toraman :S |

That's a bit creepy, unless we unknowingly live in the same house or something... no that'd be creepy too!
