|
|
The chief members of EoA are of two minds about whether to keep or completly drop eyeonanimes resource section in it's current form as several enteries are hidiously outdated or have wrong information alltogether.
One member doesn't think the section ever gets used, one does. So we're calling it.
Vote, and if you have any ideas for what YOU think we should do with teh section please post in this thread, the poll will run for 10 days. |

It could be interesting to keep it. Maybe integrating it into the DVD reviews archive could work or something as they essentially link to the same pages?
Also some shows have a manga equivalent on the site (Fruits Basket, Oh! My Goddess, Berserk etc.), so they could be added for cross-referencing perhaps.
If it's kept it'd need a thorough revamp which would be a lot of work on your part. Is it worth all that effort as you're the ones who'll have to put up with it? |

I say keep it, maybe embellish on the info we have in it a bit more, possibly ask whoevers reviewing the show to write a "in a nutshell " comment about the show? I dunno, just an idea _________________ Subtitles only!? If I wanted to read I would've bought a book! |

All ways thougth that it needed a revap but as you say it a lot of work and i'm lazzy at the best of times
As for keeping it up to date that is my fualt too. yip that right me being lazzy again or just not noticing shows that have come along, but if gently reminded "like with a rather big hammer" I'll remember and to it.
If we do drop it as it is now we will need something to replace it. It's there to gather all the info form all the other area of the site and make it more acksessible but it's not really doing that job well. Fixing or improving it will take time but I'm not willing to drop it out all together until I get a new one up and running. |

there are other sites out there that have massivly superior resource secitions to eyeonanime's, ANN and animeNFO to name two.
Sure ours is UK-centirck which is a massive bonus but our niche has become DVD (and manga) reviews.
if anything the resource section should just be used to group DVD reviews togther and not link the whole site as a central hub, because as it is the central hub of the site, the main crux of what eyeonanime is, is the reviews.

And there-in lies the big question... _________________ ...

Why not consider looking in to a wiki-style resource? _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

agreed, a Wiki related version ain't gonna happen, we'll be keeping it in-house whatever happens to the section.
*thinks*
Unless you mean in that others can edit it, in that case it'll be beyound Robs coding skills. And yes, opens floodgates to spammers. _________________ ...

I was suggesting something along the lines of DubReview's Dub Wiki. _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

I get the feeling that sentiment is tending towards scrapping the resources with a view to replacing it eventually with something better.
If that happens, could the resources be left up until it is replaced rather than just losing it for the weeks and months it will take to fashion a replacement. I do occasionally click on it you know. _________________ "I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes."

Yes, the section would stay up in one form or another, it would interfear with too much of the rest of the site to just cut it out. |

Resource section has had an update, mainly asthetic but it takes out a lot of the erronious data and puts in some more links. entries with both related manga and anime show the biggest changes like Full Metal Panic show the biggest changes.
The connection to the release date list has also been re-worked expect links to start re-popping up as the release date list gets updated. _________________ ...
