Post your favourite cliches here.

One reluctant friend/ally to another: "Remember that I will be the one to kill you!"

I'm just going to go with the 'hargh' noise made by everybody all the time in any fighting scene involving swords.

And the way they always ALMOST get defeated and then succeed through the power of their will. Guess that's a good thing though, as easy battles are boring ones.

Oh and sunsets and kissing/hugging. Always.

Always found it strange how swords always make 'ka-ching!' kind of noises when they're put into attacking stances. There's no loose parts so where's the sound coming from?

Oh yeah and strobing flashes ftw. *has fit at Tenchi Muyo intro*

"humans are selfish arrogent creatures and therefore must be destroyed" says the random big baddy.

"this is all according to my plan" says the scientist 3/4 into the series.

"I really don't remember you" says the 14 year old boy to the 14 eyar old girl who insists they were childhood swetheards.

There seems to be an defined line in the sand between childhood and adulthood, teh way kids in aniem grow up, they either ARE a child or ARE an adult there is no gradulal progression.

"I didn't see anything!" (normally followed by the main character getting hurt)

Lots of characters saying 'nani?' or 'doushite?'.

Ohhh god.

If anyone's seen Welcome to the NHK, there's an awesome scene where the two guys are trying to come up with a plot for their H-game that'll sell. They cram in a bunch of cliches and it's hilarious.

Let's see here...

Childhood sweethearts.
Kids with no parents.
NOBODY LOVES ME SO I WILL KILL EVERYONE.
Cross dressing as boy/girl to go to an all boys/girls school
Turning from a boy/girl into a boy/girl when ever Xyz happens.
Boy finds mysterious girl and falls for her. (Even though she has no personality.)
Anything where a harem is involved.
I don't want to help you but you look like my mother/sister/missing friend/lover so I will.
I'm a moody bastard but I have a dark past so it's okay.
I'm a girl with massive boobs! Watch them jiggle as I fight stuff.

And probably a lot more. XD

One of my favourites has got to be a character, usually a girl, rushing out of the house in the morning with a slice of toast in her mouth. This was parodied wonderfully in the latest series of Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan where Dokuro-chan ran out with a whole, uncut loaf of bread in her mouth Laughing.

much like the philosophical debate of "If a tree falls over and there is no-one to hear it does it make a sound?"

"If a boy falls over anywhere will he land on a girl in a compromising position? - and then be seen by another girl and labelled a pervert?"

Yes and Yes. Very Happy

Characters, mostly ninja, running really fast, half crouched over and arms trailing behind them like streamers.

Laughing Nice one Wink

It is odd how everybody in anime has no parents or at least one of them dead, usually the mother. Maybe it's so they don't get in the way of the storyline?

I've noticed this applies to Disney films as well. Only 1 parental figure at a time it seems. Better yet is having an orphaned main character...
