My favourite series is SE Lain.

The box set is out in 2 weeks and I don't know whether I can justify rebuying.

Does anyone know if there's anything on the disks in the new set that isn't on the originals or if there's any other extras?

Thanks

I\ve not heard anythng about this set having anything different to the singles. If it's anything like the Paranoia Agent box which I've seen in the shops, it's like grabbing the singles and bunging them straight into the box.

So you need to ask yourself is it worth £30 just for a piece of cardboard? (it is pretty cardboard though Smile )

Maybe you could try and track a fan would wouldn't mind parting with it? It'd be nice if MVM could sell them seperately...

Here's the link so you can gaze upon it (not that I get any pleasure from taunting you with it, oh no Wink ):

Is that the number sets they did? Damn, that's not many at all! Shocked

Edit: There are a couple of R4 sets going relatively cheap on ebay at the moment if you're willing to risk getting stuff from Austalia. That's all I can suggest apart from finding someone who bought it and wants rid of the box.

1000... That sounds about right for a UK LE set, isn't that about how many ADV do when they do their collection sets and all those are now pretty much sold out.

When you say differences do you mean between the Uk original releases or US set that pioneer released ages back, I've got that set, the UK discs which I've seen via the check discs are much better presented, the menus are lush.

I have the 4 UK MVM release with menus that have a navi logo as background so I assume they're the standard.

Interestingly HMV lists it as being widesceeen. I suspect that's wrong as PLAY shows 4:3 as do the disks I already have.

Strangely PLAY is the most expensive of the sites. Unusual for them.

Only 1,000 produced.

No difference. Just the box, and it's exclusive art of course.

So I'll probably get Paranoia Agent instead. As Toraman said £30 is a bit much just for a fancy box.

Definitely the best choice regardless. If you've already got Lain then get PA, since both are must-haves in anime, in my opinion.
