I noticed this yesterday and I can't say I was overly keen. The original was fine imo and all the extra CGI seems to do is hide the original artwork which was pretty damn good. Looks like a cash in on the CGI bandwagon to me (only aided by the success of the Appleseed films).
Rather than messing around with the old one, wouldn't it be better to spend the money making a new GitS film?
Will be keeping an eye on it nonetheless and will probably end up getting it anyway... (damn sucker that I am) |

CD Japan have just listed this as Blu Ray release with English subs.
Hefty price tag but if you're wanting it early and in High Def.... _________________ When people fail at being alive, they die.

Not BV though.
WB - yes. Sony and Disney - for back catalogue titles. Fox - more chance of finding a snowflake in hell.
Paramount - not sure. universal - so far, yes. _________________ Avatar: Rei from NGE

Well, the forthcoming release of Freedom will be all-region so you can't absolutely say that they always release as region A. Which other releases have definitely been region A since I haven't seen any region information for any Blu-ray discs anywhere... |

Depends what you're talking here - but from my experience with their pre-worldwide releases most are region unlocked based on the samples we were looking at.
For example I _know_ their Yukikaze collection release is regionless because I ran the first Blu-Ray of it on to ensure it worked for a preview screening at Amecon ^^;!
If you take a look here (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=478825 ), most of the on the radar Blu-Rays with English subs or dub from Bandai are actually region free ^^. I'm unsure of the status of shows without an English track like Gundam 00 or for shows with a complicated history like GitS though. |

Really? I was basing it on seeing packaging of the likes of GitS 2!
Hmmm.
I see Wings of Honneamise is region fee. Damn, now if only it didn't cost so much.... _________________ Avatar: Rei from NGE
