As we have a hate thread it seemed appropriate to start a complimentary love one.
I'll go first:
The best quote I heard about anime was that it's a medium rather than a genre. This sums it up pretty well in that anime covers the full range of subject matter from children's series through action, romance, horror and dare I say it porn and everything inbetween.
No country in the world other than Japan produces animation aimed at all age ranges and it's being able to watch animation aimed at an adult audience that sets it apart from say Disney.
I can't think of any other country that could have produced series such as Lain or Paranoia Agent where the subject matter is both complex and challenging.
In bullet point form I love
The production quality
The range of genres - I can watch horror or romance or girls'n'guns or sci-fi or .... depending on my mood
The music
The fact that they still make 2D films/series which the USA seems to have abandoned. CGI doesn't have to be 3D, /glares at the Kungfu Panda trailer on TV, there's room for both styles.
Not always having to have an 'everyone lived happily ever after' ending and regularly killing off major and sometimes main characters.
To sum up I think I just love anime because I do. It's not always good to over analyse things _________________ When people fail at being alive, they die.

Yeah this one. Anime can go anywhere and do anything it wants so there's a lot of variety out there.
I also like it when a show has really nice animation, but I guess that kinda goes without saying. |

I always remember the line that you can destroy an entire city in animation for the fraction of the budget it would cost to do it in live action.
I like anime also because it's different, let alone being animated but whereelse will you get shows like Kino's Journey, Mushi-shi or Haibane Renmei. Anime can capture the imagination better as it has less grounds in reality than live action. _________________ "Do you even hear the crap that comes out of your mouth!" - Momo - From Peach Girl
