Tob be fair to ADV/Manga and the rest, they are all businesses who are there to make money. It's the law in fact that a director is there to improve the profits of their company.
Anime is very unusual in the amount of influence its fans have compared to other fan oriented sereies such as say Doctor Who. I don't think, tho I may be wrong, that the BBC pays much attention to fans as to the style of release of that series.
We should be grateful that fandom has as much influence as it has but we should also cut the companies some slack. They aren't there to release series that will lose them money and if that means moving to boxsets instead of singles then that's a small price compared to them closing down altogether. Doing it mid series is not great but at least they didn't just cancel the last few disks. _________________ When people fail at being alive, they die.

I have had one last thought. As the DVD industry as a whole are moving from selling single DVDs to selling series in half or as a whole could be having an effect on how anime fans want there show sold and in doing so people are more willing to wait for the complete show.
This is just a thought as I assume that the sales number may not support that theory
I say this as this is what I do wait and than bay as it usually cheaper. |

Ok just ot make it clear I was not meaning just you that post here or read this forum but the minoraty of anime fans that i have meat and a far few that post on other forums.
I don't mind complaining when it's good and constructive but when it gets winy or picks something that just not worth the text it's written with thats when it gets my goat.
Things like extra or not having proper subtitles or even having a dubbed track are not good complaints because when I got into anime I didn't have any of these, don't get me wrong I do like them and wouldn't really like to lose the dubbed track but the rest I really don't mind so long as I get a good quality no cuts anime I fine. Ok there's my personal complaint but it still doesn't stop me form purchasing and watching the anime I like.

I have never meat a winner bunch of people in my life and that hard I’m for Scotland and according to some we do noting but bitch. The only time we can’t get our way is when the industry hits the bottom line and they seem to have finally hit it. As fans that want anime release in this country we need to support it and as an industry they need to get a better back bone and do what’s needed Oh my god is the anime industry like shinji for EVA. | Lol! You make a lot of valid (and funny) points.
The current industry is going through a dodgy phase yes, but it's still miles better than say ten years ago. Fans are spoilt rotten these days (at least I think so anyway), but we all still have a bitch every now and then about something or other. It's what we fanboys do, lol!
I'm sure Manga, ADV etc. would love nothing more than to release everything all the time to keep up with the fans' (sometimes unrealistic) expectations, but the crunch has led to them effecting the people they always try so hard to please. It's an ungrateful response to a thankless task really. The market has created its own set of standards: dub/sub soundtracks as standard, singles first, box after etc. so when they deviate from that of course they'll come in for a bit of criticism.

Yeah, there's a few interesting points in there, I also agree about animefans bitching WAY too much. But the thing is , things have got to change fro the industry to survive, the DVD market itslf is changing peopel have less money to spend in general, look at the DVD-TV market, half season sets is the standard now, compare that to the original farscape of stargate DVD's that were 3-4 episodes a disc, or way back to VHS when it was 2 episdoes a tape (star trek). It's an ironic statmetn about the bar having been set so high by the industry that fans now expect a stadard that obviously in todays market might not be able to be maintained.
We have no access to figures actual hard numbers that would in effect shut a lot of people up, look at Blood+ in the US straight ot have season set - at the same time sony release a singel with the first 4 episodes - which one sold better, or the new practice from Media Blasters or Nozomi witht eh subbed only stuff - so it would be neat to hear howwell Gunbuster 2 is doing here.
But then there's also the ammountof sway the japanese still appearto have over a forign markets release, cos they are paranoid of reverse importion. Things have got to start changing and everybody needs to learn the meaning of the word "tough". _________________ ...
