or is that just my copy.

I was watching the first of Revelation's releases of FMA, volume 9, last night and found that at many chapter beginnings (usually the end theme chapter and the first part of new episodes before the opening theme) that it would continually play 5 or so seconds and then skip back a few seconds repeatedly. The main reason I think there may be a glitch is that if I fast rewind and play the same section again it plays fine without skipping; otherwise it seems to continue (I couldn't watch for more than a handful of skips before I took action so I don't know if this goes on for the duration of the chapter). I did, in the end, manage to watch the whole disc without the skipping by using the technique above but it was a little annoying to say the least

The disc surface looks fine, unscratched and without dirt on it but I gave it a clean just to be sure. No other discs have displayed this particular characteristic on the DVD player I used and scratched discs usually display more consistant behavour (jumping to the same scene at the same point rather than repeating parts of scenes sporadically).

Just thought I would check whether this has happened to others and whether this is a faulty batch or just my disc.

that sounds like a glitch, a similar thing was happening with the astroboy check disc (hence no review!) It might be worth contacting them about it.

I had a similar glitch, sound dropping out at the start of the episodes, on Gunslinger Girl disk2.

Did you try it on another player or your PC? With GS2 it was a compatibility issue with my DVD player.

I didn't think of trying it on my PC at the time but having just done so, it appears to be a even more of a glitch. On the first closing animation when transitioning from the first episode on the disc it skips the first second or so. If I skip forward to it then it plays normally. On the transition from the episode preview to the beginning of the second episode on the disc it crashes PowerDVD (I tried this twice to be sure it wasn't a fluke)... Selecting the chapter from the main menu works fine and plays it as normal. I think I will get in touch with Rev Films and see if they have anything to say about it.

You could just skip that and return it to where you bought it. (this is on the assumption that your glitchy disc is a one-off of course)

Sounds pretty bad though.

No problems with mine (in fact im just watching it) aside from a small subtitle glitch in the opening on the 3rd ep (nothing major, just some odd quote marks poping up)

Good to hear although I don't get the subtitle thing on my version. I'll wait for Rev Films to get back to me and see what they have to say about it.

Finally had a look at a copy.

It's the same thing I saw in FMA Volume 8.

It's a multiangle thing. The end credits of the third episode on that disc kept switching between the English and Japanese angles.

It seems that the problem has spread to more of the multiangle sequences in Volume 9.

It probably depends which player you watch it on. But skipping back or forwards fixes the problem.

That is what I found.
