Something in the Simon & Schulter thread got me thinking... How many manga do you own is the obvious question, but more complicated than that.
How many manga do you own, from each respective publisher?
UK releases under a different brand name (Tanoshimi - I'm looking at you) count seperate. UK releases under the same name don't. _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

The most I've got from is from Tokyopop, almost a third of my collection. Couldn't tell you which was UK or US though.
Next comes Viz not too far behind. I've been getting their stuff for a while before Tokyopop even existed so there's been a more steady stream of their stuff coming in.
Third is Dark Horse. All you need's a complete set of Lone Wolf and Cub to get that running up anyone's list.
Fourth was a surprise as it's Gollancz! UK ftw! Tanoshimi was fifth.
Then there was a bunch of random publishers... |

They're all Tokyopop. Tokyopop is Tokyopop.
Tanoshimi isn't Del Ray - even though it is.
As for my collection:
Tokyopop: 79 (Manga)
Del Ray: 29
Tanoshimi: 20
ADV Manga: 9
Tokyopop: 9 (Novels)
Viz: 8
Dark Horse: 6
Tokyopop: 6 (Art Books)
CMX: 4
Seven Seas: 2
CPM: 1
Del Ray: 1 (Art Book)
-------------------------
Total: 158 (+7 art books, +9 novels)
I split novels and art books off, because technically they're not manga, but need to be counted.
The spread isn't really surprising for me, but the interesting thing is that most of my Tokyopop manga are from shorter series. Only really Suikoden III, and Fruits Basket have any length to them. (CCS does too, but that's two lots of 6) On the flip side, my 30 Del Ray manga, are from only three series, but ongoing series, the same goes for my 20 Tanoshimi. Three series there too. _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

Ah you did a numbered list! I didn't count exactly (slacking on counting the larger series), but here's a rough guide highest to lowest.
Top 5:
Tokyopop (US/UK) - 100+
Viz (US) - 100+
Dark Horse (US) - 70
Gollancz (UK) - 50
Tanoshimi (UK) - 30
There's a big drop after that and it evens out a bit more:
ADV (US) - 14
Bloomsbury (UK) - 12
Comics One (US) - 12
Harper Collins (UK) - 8
Sweatdrop (UK) - 8
CMX (US) - 8
Anime Works (US) - 6
Cadence/Viz (US) - 5
Mandarin (UK) - 4
Manga (UK) - 4
Titan (UK) - 4
Boxtree (UK) - 2
Last Gasp (US) - 2
Drawn & Quarterly (US/UK) - 2
Cocoro (US) - 2
Ponent Mon (US/UK) - 2
Blast Books (US) - 1
Disney(!) (US) - 1 |

None, it's all Tanoshimi! I'm tempted by Parasyte though as it's great. Just thinking whether it's worth doubling up on or not from the Tokyopop version.
Hoping to get Q-Ko-Chan at some point as well as it's the same artist as the FLCL manga. |

You should consider genshiken from Del Ray _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

I was actually aiming to get the economy anime box at some point instead of the manga. Are they significantly different? |

The manga continues on further than the first series of Genshiken (though a 2nd is being made in Japan) but there isn't too many differences. _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

| Mine are mostly Tokyopop too, for ease's sake and the fact that I rarely buy manga outside of a bookshop. The only three that differ are the three volumes of Monster from Viz ^_^ |
