Possibly to help me put an article together for EoA and just cos the world is so damn big, anybody out there ever come into contact with the .Hack// Universe? your opinions and what order everything goes in.
So far I know of the 4 .hack//games, Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarentine
The .Hack//Liminalty OVA's each runs paralel with a game.
.hack//Twilight follows on from the games.
.Hack//SIGN (prequel to the games ( ? )
.Hack// A.I (novels ?)
Then there's the gard game, the new trilogy ogf games .Hack//G.U. and the new anime .hack//ROOTS.
Anybody find it confusing / better when you've been exposed to more than one part of the universe. _________________ ...

.hack//SIGN TV anime
.hack// Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarentine 4 x PS2 games
The .Hack//Liminality OVA's each runs parallel with the games
.hack//Another Birth novels runs parallel as well but it's from Blackrose's perspective
.hack//Legend of the Twilight anime and manga
.Hack// A.I Buster novels
I don't think the card game's a part of the official story, just a themed game to help franchise it a bit more. No idea about the new stuff like G.U. or Roots.
I've read all the manga, A.I. Buster and done all the games (halfway into number 4 anyway) and Liminality. Intend to get into all the anime next and am dying for a release of G.U.. The story in the games was spread quite thinly I felt, with only a few keys actually making any sense. The rest of it is random dungeon crawling with the only award being a 'wtf!' room and cryptic message at the end. Liminality is more coherent imo. I'm pretty into it though so that's no real bad thing. |

In timeline order
.hack//AI Buster - Novel following Albeiro, also shows a key event involving Orca and Balmung. Novel.
.hack//Sign - Anime about Tsukasa, and the "birth" of Aura.
.hack//.. games - The four games that depict the story of the twilight bracelet
.hack//Another Birth - The games from BlackRose's viewpoint. Novels.
.hack//Liminality - Anime simultaneously with the .hack//.. games, showing the goings on in the real world.
.hack//Legend of Twilight - MANGA, Tells the story of Shugo and Rena, after they win a competition to play the avatars of Kite and BlackRose, but all is not what it seems.
.hack//Roots - Anime series which takes place in The World:R2, a newer release of the MMO "The World". The game is now overrun with pks. This is a prequel to the second series of games
.hack//G.U. - New games following the story of Haseo, as he tracks down "Tri Edge", a vagrant AI who looks remarkably like Kite, and gets swept into a brand new adventure.
Of note, the .hack//Legend manga is the "true" story, the anime is fun but not true to the plotline. Also, the second .hack//AI Buster "novel" is actually a collection of short stories, which is why it isn't listed on the timeline, as the stories take place in pretty much all of the first part of the time line (before roots) _________________ UK Anime DVD of the Month Awards

Ah, that's the one. I read AI Buster a while ago last summer so I kinda forgot the details. |

| Also, to add to that list, is the .hack//fragment game, which was never released outside of Japan (so far as I am aware) but was a prequel to all of the games and stories. |

Random post for anyone's whose not got the games: The Liminality discs have a different design on the cover but despite that it's exactly the same menus, audio options etc. in the machine so doesn't matter if you missed out before... aside from the games themselves that is.
