Nice, I'm guessing that the site's a reputable one. Smile

I got the French DVD a while ago. I think it's the same master as the old R1 one from Manga as the video quality is truly abysmal. (image quality doens't normally bother me but seriously - it's bad!)

It's a weird DVD as while there's no English dub or subtitles, the Japanese commentary track is being recorded with the Enlglish in the background.

Unless Beez get ahold of it over here, I think I'll be sticking with my subbed version which I taped off the BBC.

It's a great film though. Very Happy

Better price than the rip off merchants at Bandai Visual USA (who seriously need to go out of business and soon)

Yeah they really need to sort the pricing out for the market they're dealing in. They can only really get away with it in Japan (I feel sorry for Japanese fans as their anime market seems much more expensive).

If they just released a DVD-only version of the film it'd be a start. Sad

I bought Kiki's Delivery Service from them a few years back without any hassle.

Anyway this is the DVD from the Bandai HD packs, given the NTSC-PAL treatment, it would have been better if they had got a native PAL from the HD masters, but it's still miles better than the Manga release.

Apparently Madman waited this long to release it because they wanted decent masters.

No Manga commentary though. Sad

Here are a couple of other links

dvdcrave

ezydvd

and the blurb from ezydvd -

Quote:
This DVD is formatted for playback on PAL enabled systems (Australian Standard).

Reach the Greater Heights

Set on a world not unlike Earth, Shiro is a young man who wanted to join his country's air force, but directionless, instead finds himself in the ridiculed Royal Space Force. The bumbling Shiro is changed after meeting Riquinni, a caring girl who helps him find his spiritual centre. As we witness slacker Shiro and the hapless space force crew find new purpose, the corruption of the government conspires against the success of the launch, as the space race becomes fuel for war.

Special Features:

All-new transfer sourced from High Definition masters
Deleted Scene
Theatrical trailer
Original Pilot Film

Clean Reversible Cover

EDIT: The Australian censors have re-evaluated it...

rating

It was originally 'low level violence', and now it's 'moderate violence' so I guess it's uncut too.

It's in the post! Yeeeee!

I haven't been so jazzed since I preordered the Blade Runner 5-disc tin!

That's my 2 fave movies getting decent releases this year. And I'm done.

It would still be a rip off price though :p

Id love to get the HD-DVD of it, but the price is a big problem.... oh and the fact its not in a HD-DVD case. Yeah, for some reason BVUSA put there HD releases in normal DVD cases....
