(for cry, think anything from "that choked up feeling" to full on blubbing)

As i said in the "What's Everybody Been Watching Recently" i had tears in my eyes at the end of Rumbling Hearts volume 1, mainly due to how i felt for the characters and what they went through.

Azumanga Daioh's final ep also made me feel all choked up furing the graduation bit, it was like tears of joy feeling really.

Anyone else?

The anime's that have most affected me in this way would be:

Gunslinger Girl final episode.
Grave Of The Fireflies
SE Lain final episode which has a real feelgood sentiment after quite a dark series.
Chrono Crusade Xmas episode but as Ian says more a
happy feeling.

I hardly ever cry at films, let alone anime, but Wolf's Rain had me going! :D

Kaleido Star, end of both series
Azumanga Daioh, end
Princess Tutu, end
Fruits Basket, "that" scene (if you've seen it you know which one)

There are more which had me very close to tears in places (too many to list)

I can honestly say I've never cried at an anime, or felt like I was going to.

Though Pokemon had a few tense moments back in the day. Rolling Eyes

I think the one that sticks in my mind would be Haibane Renmei. The whole story somewhat tugs at the heartstrings on many levels as it progresses.

I'm pretty much a soppy get, so if I get into a show or movie, it'll affect me.

So yeah, Gunslinger Girl, Fruits Basket, Barefoot Gen

odd ones include

Spirited Away (I don't like seeing Chihiro cry)
Love Hina (The episode with the doll)
Trigun (When Wolfwood dies)

That bit always gets me too. There's a very similar scene in Totoro that also has this effect.

It may be the paternal/maternal instinct in that nobody likes to see a child in distress. It's all in the genes.

Haibane Renemi,
Zone of the Eenders: Dolores I - yes really Crying or Very sad
Chrono Crusade
Grave of the fireflies
Voices of a distant Star

they all brought a tear to me eye

Azumanga Daioh
Fruits Basket
Madlax

all got me choked up in places

Gunslinger Grirl I kind of felt happy for them rather than sad.

Better add Rumbling Hearts to that list of mine.

I watched it last night, and got suitably choked up.

Although I don't see it as amazing as most everyone else, it is outstanding though. I expect it'll get more intense as the series progresses. I get the feeling it is a one sitting anime, all three volumes together.

I nearly got sad near the end of Azumanga, but didn't well-up or anything. Was probably the closest I think. (unless I've blocked out the trauma)

Grave of the Firelfies - depressing yes, tears no.
Barefoot Gen - sucked the joy out of me, but still no tears.
Gunslinger Girl - nope, nothing. The end results didn't really surprise me. Razz

I have to add Chrono Crusade

Quote:
final episode's death scene.

Very typically Japanese/Asian to do something like that. In the US/Europe we generally have to suffer happy endings.

Wasn't sure how to hide a spoiler so I improvised.

That bit at the end of Akira where something resembling a tiny star lands in Kaneda's hands and then he whispers Tetsuos name and closes his hands round it as it diminishes.
That brought a lump to my throat...
