Down to the price cuts I know but interesting none the less. |
good lord that's all of 'em in the top 18, now that's got to say something about
either the quality of those films
or the tastes of anime fandom in the UK
or the crossover power of the ghibli films in general. _________________ ...

Nothing to do with fandom I reckon. Just the quality of the films themselves and the attention that Spirited Away's Oscar drew to the other Ghibli works.
Now it's a case of slap a Ghibli logo on it and it'll sell, I doubt that Little Norse Prince did very well as it lacked that detail. These buyers won't be back for more anime, that's for sure. Too cynical?
Regardless, it's good that these films are getting the attention they deserve! |

| The fact that these films have recently been shown on Film4, especially their recent Miyazaki series is probably a bit of beneficial coverage for them, too. |

Fingers crossed that motivates the other labels to try and get some of their titles shown on freeview!

Its good to see the risk paid off for Optimum. It would have really hurt them if the collection had flopped after investing in 16 titles. _________________
