Forgive me for being thick but if I want to watch in broadcast order do I just put the second disk from each LE set in rather than the first or do I need to mess round changing disks from different LEs?
Right, just had a look at the boxes for 1-3 and LE2 has 1-5 broadcast and LE3 has 6-10. So assuming LE4 has the rest, it hasn't arrived yet, then there's no changes other than at normal disk end. Unless I'm missing something.
Seems odd that you can get the whole series on disks 2-4 without buying disk1 _________________ When people fail at being alive, they die.

How much messing round is the broacast order? I hate switching disks in a session so would this mean having to do that? |
If you do not mind/want to watch in the original Japanese (with subs naturally) then you can play the second discs from volumes 2, 3 & 4 straight since they contain the series in broadcast order with the original episode previews with no disc-swapping (other than when one disc has played through).
If you want to watch it in broadcast order in English, however, then a fair bit of swapping of discs is in order plus. On top of that if you want the original episode previews then a bit of messing about going to extras to find them will also be required. |

I'm a sub person 99% of the time so was planning that format.
I'll be going broadcast order
Thanks all.
Out of interest why did they mess with the order? No spoilers please _________________ When people fail at being alive, they die.

It's a storytelling choice. Think Memento and Pulp Fiction. There are plenty of 'Oh Wow' moments, and 'Ahh I get it' with the broadcast order. Of course there may be with the production order, but I haven't seen that.
Also there are very good reasons to end the series with Melancholy Part 6, as Someday In The Rain, while it is a great ending, may not have the right emotional tone that some people may consider deserving of the series.
Was that circumspect enough? Or too spoilery. _________________ "I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes."

It's also worth throwing out there that the broadcast and DVD order are all done by the japanese their was no switching on any US-company part. Incase there's any matter of being a pruitan, not that there is or anything. Bandia Ent worked really hard aparently to licneses TV order as the japanese weren't going to give it to them originally. _________________ ...

Righty oh, just watched LE2 disk 2 so disk1 broadcast eps 1-5, confused you will be, and umm well that was wonderful if confusing.
Lots of laugh out loud moments with the 'get all you clothes off and put this on now' sequences and the 'she's younger than me but has bigger breasts go on feel for yourself' scenes.
I was bit bit concerned at the forced 4:3 in episode1 until I twigged that it was done that way due to it being a film made by them. Quite a lot of digital artifacts in episode 1 too. Not sure if it was deliberate or an encoding issue.
Loads of poking fun at anime cliches in jokes and just a wild ride of weirdness. Haruhi is completely bonkers. Love it to death.
Enjoyed it a lot even with the bouncing round in the timeline, episode 4 was set after episode 5, so looking forward to the rest
Sorry over enthusing but well yes I loved it. _________________ When people fail at being alive, they die.
