Only Yesterday arrived today so I now have all 14 in the Studio Ghibli Collection.
Just need to find time to watch the 6 I haven't seen yet.
Hardly a chore though |

I may as well use this thread for this but for those who are still tryying to pick up Ghibli films they are pretty much on offer everywhere.
Sendit.com has a 2 for £15 offer on most of them
play.com has them for £8.99 each
and for those who like impulse shop buying HMV has them for £10 each. _________________ “Sometimes, death is all you can see. It’s all around you. It consumes you - So you have to look it in the eye, and bare your teeth.”

Grave of the fireflies? Great, now i have to buy another version of it. I guess the first issue of the DVD was pre-Ghibli collection. _________________

I had to buy a new copy of Spirited Away, my DVD player did nasty things to my original, and it's identical to the pre Collection version other than the packaging.
I can't say if Fireflies is the same or not but I'd guess the DVD is the same as with Spirited Away.
So unless you are a completeness person the original is probably ok. |

It's a Toshiba SD-150E.
Normally it's fine, I think I didn't put the disk in quite straight and the spindle cracked the plastic around the hole accompanied by some some nasty grinding noises.
I also had a compatibility issue on Gunslinger Girl disk2 so maybe avoid this player |

So what are the corrisponding numbers to the titles, I've got
#4 - pom poko
#11 - whisper of the heart
for the life of me I haven't found which one is #1 yet? _________________ “Sometimes, death is all you can see. It’s all around you. It consumes you - So you have to look it in the eye, and bare your teeth.”

1 Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
2 The Cat Returns
3 Porco Rosso
4 Pom Poko
5 Kiki's Delivery Service
6 Laputa Castle In The Sky
7 Howl's Moving Castle
8 Princess Mononoke
9 My Neighbour Totoro
10 Grave Of The Fireflies
11 Whisper Of The Heart
12 My Neighbours The Yamadas
13 Spirited Away
14 Only Yesterday
Which is not chronological.
This is, I think, the chronological order:
1984 Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
1986 Laputa Castle In The Sky
1988 My Neighbour Totoro
1988 Grave Of The Fireflies
1989 Kiki's Delivery Service
1991 Only Yesterday
1992 Porco Rosso
1994 Pom Poko
1995 Whisper Of The Heart
1997 Princess Mononoke
1999 My Neighbours The Yamadas
2001 Spirited Away
2002 The Cat Returns
2004 Howl's Moving Castle |

Yeah that looks about right. If you want to double-check then the trailers on these DVDs go through them all in the right order order. (the year is put next to each title before the trailer plays) |

I never watch trailers or spoilers as I think of them.
I understand the need for them but I hate to spoil a series/film before I watch it.
To be honest I never even read the back of the DVD case before I watch the disk. Paranoid I guess. |

I never read the back of dvd cases either, but that's cos I'm lazy.
Thanks for the list too, it's an intersting order no wonder I couldn't find #1. _________________ “Sometimes, death is all you can see. It’s all around you. It consumes you - So you have to look it in the eye, and bare your teeth.”
